Tribute

Irene was born into a loving family of ten children on a farm at Del Bonita, Alberta on March 27, 1927.  She passed away on December 24, 2014 at Cranbrook, BC.

 Irene took her primary education in Del Bonita in Alberta and attended Teacher’s College in Calgary.  With the death of her husband in a farm accident, she contacted Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1952 and started to study with Frank and Ruth Brewster of Fort Macleod.  Irene later moved to Calgary where she married Bill Juravel in 1957 and together they worked in their family business.  In 1980 they moved to Clearbrook, BC and then to Cranbrook in 1999. 

She was baptized as one of the Jehovah’s Witensses in 1961.

Irene was predeceased by her parents Verne and Mae Jenks, her sisters Verna, Sylvia, Janora and Donna.  She is survived by her loving husband Bill, her children Marilyn, Lorne (Phyllis), Roberta and Cathy.  She is also survived by her sisters Leona Graham. Geneva (Bill) Powell and Ada (Erick) Nielsen and her brother Lorne (Evelyn) Jenks as well as her grandchildren Lindsay, Carilee, Johanna (Darryl) Hyde and great grandchildren Liam and Brynn Hyde and many nieces and nephews.

Irene loved showing hospitality and enjoyed cooking, gardening and sewing.  She did beautiful needlework and crocheted many beautiful pieces, including afghans and tablecloths for her children and grandchildren.

Irene held dear to her the Bible’s promise of a future paradise on earth, a hope that especially sustained her during her failing health.  We look forward to seeing her strong and healthy, once again, when that promise is fulfilled.

One of Irene’s favorite scriptures was Psalm 155:16 – “You are opening your hand and satisfying the desire of every living thing.”
