Doris Stocknow

May 8, 1916 - April 20, 2012

Tribute

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Doris.

Born in Blaine Lake, Sask., she married Alex in 1942 and moved to Kimberley in 1949. They both served their community in many ways. Doris was always at the Moose Hall catering, or up at the Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Store. Both she and Dad were in the Rocky Mountain Swingers and went up and down the valley entertaining at many senior facilities. She was given the gift of hospitality and served the best Russian Borscht and homemade bread and pies. Summer days were spent in her garden and she was a tireless worker.

She was predeceased by her parents George and Dasha Chernoff, as well as brother Fred and sisters Nastia and Lucy. Her beloved Alex passed away in May 2003.

She is survived by her sons Harvey (Fran), Ron (Lou), Dan (Bonnie), 2 grandchildren Carlen and Rheann and four great grandchildren Ethan, Kailey, Shayla and Jewel. Also many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

She loved her family and was fortunate to have a second one, that being all the staff at The Pines. While there, she was smothered in love, kindness and laughter. She loved the meals, the activities and all the entertainment by the talented volunteers. All the staff at The Pines are to be highly commended. On Friday she was given hugs and kisses by the staff who took time to say their goodbyes. We know there is a place in heaven where mom will be singing in the choir, tending the flowers and, as usual “smiling” at everyone. Bye Bye “Lovey” – ”til we meet again – keep smiling.

A private family service will be held on a later date. Condolences can be sent to stocknows@shaw.ca.
