Dana ("Ginny") Virginia Jalava (Peuramaki)

October 3, 1946 - February 26, 2021

Tribute

On Friday, February 26, 2021 Dana Virginia (Ginny) Jalava passed away very peacefully at home with her family by her side.  Ginny was born on October 3, 1946 in Port Arthur, Ontario and her work life was spent in the medical secretarial field.  Ginny is the Past President of the Prince George Weavers and Spinners Guild.    Ginny and George were married on October 16, 1965.

Ginny leaves behind her husband of 55 years, George and her two daughters, Tina Jacobsen and Tamara (Ron ) Dyck.  She also leaves her grandchildren; Sydney Jacobsen (Adrian), Tanner Jacobsen (Jordyn) and Derek Zilkosy (Tyler) as well as brothers and sisters-in-law, many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews in BC, Alberta, Ontario and Finland.

Ginny was predeceased by her parents in 1953 during the polio epidemic.  The whole family was struck by this terrible disease.  Her brother was left paralyzed.  Ginny was predeceased by her parents Villpo and Wilma (Laine) Peuramaki in 1953 and her brother and sister-in-law Donald and Charmaine.

There will be two Celebrations of Life to take place once COVID allows us to gather.  One will be held in Kamloops, BC and the other one in Thunder Bay, Ontario.  We will lay Ginny to rest in the Dog River Cemetery in Ontario as time allows.  In lieu of flowers and in memory of Ginny, donations would be gratefully accepted to the Cure P.S.P. (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy).   The family wishes to express their thanks to the doctors who helped us during Ginny’s illness – a special thanks to Dr. Catherine Wight as well as Dr. Daryl Wile, Dr. Kevin McIvar and Home care nurse Justin.
