Wendy Joan Skjonsby (Abbey)

August 24, 1954 - December 4, 2025

Tribute

With heavy hearts, the family of Wendy Skjonsby announce her peaceful passing at the Green Home on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at the age of 71.

Wendy was well known and immensely proud of the canning business Abbey’s Best, which she owned and operated with her mother, Lorraine. Exceptionally talented in crafting, pottery, sewing, and crocheting, she created countless beautiful garments and handmade items cherished by many. Wendy also had a deep love for gardening and took great pride in the beauty of her own vibrant gardens.

Her annual trip to the Merritt Music Festival with her husband, Lowell, was a highlight each year, as were their summers spent in Rexford, Montana, surrounded by family and friends. Above all, Wendy was most proud of being a mother to Tommy and Lindsay, and later a step-mother to Chris and Sean.

Wendy is survived by her loving husband, Lowell Skjonsby; her son Tommy (Danika) Chappell; her daughter Lindsay (Cody) Roberts; her step-son Chris; and her seven grandchildren: Lenny, Thomias, Luna, Dagger, Archer, Livia, and Gwyn. She is also survived by her brother Don (Tania) Abbey and her sister Judy (Bruce) Mace.

She was predeceased by her parents Walter and Lorraine Abbey, her sister Jaquie Abbey, and her step-son Sean Skjonsby.

Wendy’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the wonderful staff at the Green Home for their extraordinary care and compassion over the last several years.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Leslie Long Rescue or to a charity of your choice.

Consolences to you Lowell in the loss of Wendy. The visits to the Green home willl no longer be part of your daily routine, which will be hard to get used too. Know that there was nothing more you could have done for Wendy, and cherish the years of happiness you two shared. Our thoughts and sympathies are with you during this sad time.
