Stanley "Russell" Eagles

February 19, 1968 - January 30, 2021

Tribute

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Russell Eagles on Saturday, January 30, 2021.  Russell was born on February 19, 1968 in Prelate, Saskatchewan.

Russell finally won his battle to be allowed to have the choice to be set free from his pain and suffering with what dignity he had left,.  He was finally able to pass peacefully with family and loved ones at his side.

Russ was a true fighter.  He battled his illnesses for many years and did so with the grit of a true man.  Russ rarely took pain pills and fought to live until the very end.  He joked with us in the final moments of his life giving us all a little piece of his big heart and saying, “Remember I will be able to see all of you wherever you are . . . .” making us all burst out laughing.  A giver of life to the end.

Russ had a wide variety of interests.  He worked and excelled at many jobs thru life and became an excellent dry wall installer and operated his own business as such.

Russ lived all he could with everything from natural healing to automotive and everything in between.

Russ was passionate for the love and care he had for his dogs, his love of playing ball, his obsession for vehicles be it his car, sled or whatever he was able to acquire.  He poured his soul into improving it and his OCD for neatness made Russ who he was.

Russ was Russ and you loved the guy or you didn’t and he didn’t care if you didn’t.  But if Russ loved you, then he did.

Russ was very competitive and for years Russ played ball with his family and made many friends along the way.  He would also willingly say enemies too.  But that was Russ and he wasn’t shy with anyone.

Russ spent a number of successful years in Calgary where he left his unique impression on many people. . . friends and family.  He worked hard and was always there to help his family and friends.  But alas his love of this country brought him back home again.

Russ has some very special cousins from Calgary and Coleman and a few other places who meant the world to him.  You know who you are and he loved you dearly.

Russ was a giver.  You could always count on Russ to be there for you.  Russ was a believer in luck and would share all he could in hopes it would bring not only him luck, but to others as well.

Russ LOVED his on-line free casino games.  He would smirk and say “Now if only it would pay!”

Russ loved good home cooked food but if the price was right or there was an “all you can eat” deal on then look out –  he was there!

There are many who were a part of Russ’s life.  He wanted everyone to now how much he truly cared for you all.  He was so hoping to see his mom, his brother and many others who have passed on “The flip side” . . . and that’s where he will be waiting to see us all again!

Russ will especially be missed by his father Bob with whom he spent the majority of his time with.  Russ had a unique outlook on life and, however you saw this man, he was a special light for so many and so many more than he realized.

A poem from his favorite poet:

__________________

Acquainted With the Nigh by Robert Frost.

I have been acquainted with night

I have wakled out in rain – and back in rain

I have out walked the furthest city light

I have looked down the saddest city lane

I have passed by the watchman on his beat, and dropped my eyes unwilling to explain

I have stood still and stopped the sound of feet

With far away an interrupted cry came over houses from another street

But not to call me back or say good-bye;

And further still and unearthly height, one luminary clock against the sky

Proclaimed the time was neither wrong nor right

I have been one acquainted with the night

______________

Rest in peace Russ, you will be missed and not forgotten.

Russ was predeceased by his mother in 2006 and his brother Rob in 2020.

We hope to plan and be able to have a celebration of life at a later date.  We will have good home cooked food as Russ would have wanted.
