Tribute
It is with a deep sense of loss that we announce the sudden passing of Roy Gilmar on September 27, 2019 at the age of 93. Roy was born August 26, 1926 in Cowley, Alberta. He was the fourth of five sons born to James and Bertha Gilmar.
Roy worked as a miner for 23 years with Cominco in Kimberley, BC until he retired in 1987. Previous to settling his family in Kimberley, BC in 1964, he and his family lived in Edmonton, Alberta where he worked in his trade as a auto-body repair man. He continued with his trade part time throughout his life. Roy loved to fish, especially Koocanusa, he loved to go and get wood each fall. He enjoyed having an amazing vegetable garden each year and was a proud member of Elks Canada.
Roy leaves behind his wife of 69 years, Bertha Gilmar of Kimberley, BC, his son Doug (Heather) Gilmar also of Kimberley, BC, daughter Sandi (Marty) Hollingshead of Cranbrook, BC, daughter=in-law Naemi Gilmar of Elkford, BC. Five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Roy was predeceased by his brothers Charlie, Lesley and Louis and earlier this year he lost his son James Gilmar.

Memorial Service to be held Saturday, October 5 at 1:00 pm, St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 97 Boundary St., Kimberley, BC V1A 2H4
