Our cherished Rose passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, on July 17, 2026, at the age of 83.

Rose was born in St-Hubert de Riviere-Du-Loup, Quebec. She grew up there, valuing time with family and friends. It was there that she met the love of her life, Gilles Dupuis. They shared nearly 61 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they moved west to build a new life, eventually settling in Cranbrook, British Columbia, where they raised their family. Arriving with only a few words of English between them, they faced every challenge with courage, determination, and unwavering perseverance. Rose and Gilles shared a love of travel. Together they made four unforgettable trips to Alaska, travelled all the way to Tuktoyaktuk, N.W.T, explored many American states, and Rose always looked forward to returning trips to Quebec to visit family and friends.

Rose was a resilient, strong, and compassionate woman whose warmth could melt your heart. She had a beautiful smile, a wonderful sense of humour, and a sparkle that lit up every room she entered. Throughout her younger years, she worked in the service industry, where her caring nature and genuine kindness made everyone feel welcome. At the age of 50, Rose once again demonstrated her remarkable strength and determination by returning to school to become a care aide. She spent the final ten years of her career working in a community care home, where she truly found her calling. Caring for others wasn’t simply her job—it was who she was. She was born to serve others with kindness, dignity, and compassion.

Rose was faithful, loving, generous, and full of laughter. She had a playful spirit and a unique way of communicating. She also had “the glare,” followed by one of her unforgettable giggles.

Anyone who had the privilege of working with Rose or simply knowing her was touched by her beautiful spirit. She made people feel seen, valued, and cared for. Rose had a quiet faith. Those who knew her best recognized her gift of insight and her ability to bring comfort to others. Music brought her great joy, and in recent years her favourite song was One Day at a Time. Without warning, she would look at you with a smile and begin singing, bringing happiness to everyone around her. Over the past few years, Rose especially enjoyed Sunday afternoons at the casino, spending time with her “babies”, talking with the spirits, laughing, and simply being her wonderfully fun self.

Rose will be forever loved and deeply missed by her husband, Gilles Dupuis; her children, Aline(Mike), Claire (♥) and Robin (Trisha); her two cherished grandchildren, Dradon and Lexie; her sister, Henriette; her brother, Paul; and her nieces and nephews, Annie (Christian), Lucie (Pascal), Denis, and their families, along with many dear friends whose lives she touched.

Rose was predeceased by her parents, Josaphat and Marie-Louise, her brother Yves, and her sister-in-law Sylvie. She missed each of them dearly. Rose was tenacious right to the very end. Even during difficult times, she would simply say, “It’s not that bad.” She had an incredible ability to find hope, gratitude, and goodness in every situation.

In lieu of flowers or donations to a dementia organization, the family invites you to honour Rose’s memory in a way that truly reflects her spirit: by paying it forward through a simple act of kindness, compassion, or love toward someone you meet. There could be no more fitting tribute, and nothing would have meant more to Rose.

The family would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Simons, Dr. Schroeder, Dr.Walton, Dr. Claire who cared for Rose and supported our family. To Nooria, Laarni, Gisele and Christina at JCCV and Nurse Tola who brightened our day, Nurses Danae and Andrea who treated Rose with kindness and compassion throughout her journey and the many others at East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort knowing that Rose’s love, laughter, strength, and beautiful spirit will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
