Tribute

We are saddened to announce the passing of our Mom, Grandma and GG at the age of 93.  Mary was born in Hillcrest, Alberta on  April 22, 1928.  At the age of 9 she moved to Vancouver Island where she lived until she married.  In 1953 she moved to Kimberley living here for 69 years.

She had a variety of jobs in downtown Kimberley.  She worked at the Norman’s Pharmacy, Bavarian News, Bavarian Sports & Hardware, Walkley’s Meat Market, Black Forest Store and retired from AG Foods.  She loved working with the public.

Mary enjoyed going to the casino, winning many times on the slot machines.  She loved to walk uptown most days visiting everyone she saw.  Mary enjoyed card games with friends at one another’s homes.

Mary loved to bake for family and friends, you never went to her house without her having a variety of treats on the table.

Mary is survived by her daughter Myra (Jim) and son Rob (Donna) as well as 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.

Mary was predeceased by her son Terry Watson and Grandson Ray Jenks.

We would like to thank the staff from Home Support, Gardenview, the Doctors and Nurses at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital and her family doctor, Dr. Buddo.

Relation: She is my Dad’s cousin.

We always enjoyed talking to Mary and listening to her Family stories. She was an extraordinary lady with an exceptional memory.

From: Val Migneault

Although I hardly knew Mary, while I was in Mark Creek shopping, I saw her walking outside with her groceries, I offered her a ride home, as I knew where she lived, she commented “ no thanks- the walk will do me good.” Sweet lady, always had a SMILE.
May she RIP.
Condolences to her loved ones.
