Margaret Anne Dresser (Ranger)
January 10, 1945 - September 12, 2024
Tribute
It is with a great amount of sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Anne Dresser at the age of 79. She succumbed at the Palliative Care Unit at the Cranbrook Hospital on September 12th, 2024. She was predeceased by her parents Lew and Nancy Ranger and her older brother (Bill) William Ranger.
She leaves to mourn her husband Alex after 55 years of a wonderful marriage, her son David (Cori, Sebastion and Kiffy), daughter Michelle, grandson Maxx and granddaughter Bella, her sister Kathy Ranger, and her brother Jimmy Ranger, her two best friends Lynne Dakin and Ann Wavracan her many nieces and nephews and her cousins in Ontario, her in-laws in Saskatchewan. She will also be remembered by many friends and folks she met over the years.
Margaret was born in Hamilton Ontario, January 10th, 1945 and because her Dad was in the Army they moved around a lot. She also lived in Whitehorse and went to school there. She then moved to Port Coquitlam BC where she met Alex and the wonderful marriage began. They then moved to Chilliwack BC because Alex was transferred there. She never complained, just picked up roots and started new lifelong friendships. After a number of years there the family moved to Cranbrook BC.
Margaret started working as manager at a few clothing stores then moved on to Kookanoosa Publications successfully selling advertising for their sports magazines.
During this time, she always found time to support her children and husband in their endeavors and was very proud of their achievements. She gave unwavering support and help whenever needed. She was always there. Her husband travelled a lot with work, and Margaret was the anchor at home that always kept things running smoothly.
It is remembered that Margaret went through a number of serious medical issues during these times as well. She was diagnosed with MS a number of years ago. This did not stop her from doing what she loved doing, cooking for her family and entertaining her friends with wonderful meals. She also had breast cancer a number of years ago and beat that too. Throughout these serious medical issues she always had a positive attitude and a smile on her face.
She loved to travel to Vegas, to see the shows and play the slots. She also loved the cruise ships and various ports we sailed to. She also loved the casino here in Cranbook. She also liked to play her various games on the computer, mainly Pogo.
The family would like to thank Dr. Nichi and her team for the wonderful care they gave Margaret while she went though this ordeal. We would also like to thank the BCA paramedics, ER nurses and Dr.Tait in the ER for their wonderful medical and emotional care they gave Margaret as well as the family. We also want to give a huge thank you for the care and emotional support the palliative care nurses at the Cranbrook hospital gave Margaret and the family.
We request no flowers but if anyone wishes please make a donation in Margaret’s name to the Cranbrook Palliative Society at the Cranbrook hospital or the local SPCA.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Margaret soon and we will announce the time and place later.
Don’t cry for me because it’s over. Smile because it happened.
