Tribute

Lyle (Scamp) Joseph Jolie
March 24, 1935 – November 5, 2025

With deep love and sorrow, we share the passing of Scamp Jolie – a devoted husband, father, grand-father, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather and friend. Scamp touched the lives of all he knew through his incredible musical talent and sense of humour.

Scamp was born in Kimberley BC to Gladys and Joseph Jolie spending most of his life there.  He met his first wife, Shirley Aikman and had four children together. Scamp worked various jobs in the logging industry before he began his career as a welder at Fiorentino Brothers in Cranbrook, remaining there until he retired in 1998. In the year 2000 he married his second wife Betty Danell. Together, Scamp and Betty enjoyed many years camping in Yahk, BC and had recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on August 26th.

Scamp left lasting memories with all who knew him, playing music in various bands including his band “Country Cream” in which he played side by side with his sons Gordon and Daryl.

Scamp is survived by his loving wife Betty, daughters Sheri (Roger) Deatrich, Jocelyn (Tony) Fiorentino, daughter-in-law Elfi Jolie, step-daughter Bernece (Moat) Foreman, step-son Karry (Pattie) Danell, as well as eight grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Scamp is also survived by his brother Cyril (Laurel) Jolie, as well as many nieces and nephews and dear friends.

He was pre-deceased by his parents Gladys and Joe, first wife Shirley, sons Gordon and Daryl, sister Toy and brother Royce.

Scamp’s family would like to thank the staff, nurses and doctors at the F.W. Green Home and East Kootenay Regional Hospital for their kindness, compassion and care.

There will be no service at Scamp’s request.

So sorry to hear about Scamp. I had the absolute pleasure of getting to know him through a music connection. When I was 16 I met Scamp after his son Gord invited me over to audition for the band. Luckily, I became the first drummer for the Country Cream. Playing in the band with Scamp was an absolute thrill and I still have many fine memories of those days. He taught me a lot about being a musician and it was easy to build confidence playing with such a talented guitarist, singer and songwriter. I am forever grateful to Scamp for giving me a chance.
Rest in Peace my friend.
