Lucie Denise D'etcheverrey (Lebel)

Lucie Denise D’Etcheverrey, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2025, in Cranbrook, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous, hard-fought battle with cancer. Lucie will be forever remembered for her generous spirit and unwavering, unselfish love for her family.
With heavy hearts, her loved ones find comfort knowing that Lucie and her late husband, Sam, are now together in Heaven, as their love story continues eternally. Their love was an inspiration to many — soulmates with a profound bond.
Lucie co-owned the Canadian Hotel in Kimberley for 20 years, and after it was sold in 1995, she went on to work at Superstore until her retirement in 2016.
In retirement, Lucie cherished time with her family and friends and especially enjoyed playing cards. She also treasured memories with her grandchildren. Each summer, they would stay with her for a week or two, creating lasting memories that reflected her deep affection for them. Lucie’s pride and joy was her family.
Lucie is survived by her daughters: Jeannie, Jenny, and Julie (Jamie); grandchildren: Cacie and Jaxen; step-granddaughter: Jaida; sisters: Fran (Lawrence) and Theresa (Angelo); brothers: Ross (Lorna), Mario (Sonja), and Ray (Karen); as well as many nieces, nephews, and deeply cherished friends.
Lucie was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert (Sam) D’Etcheverrey, her mother, MarieAnne LeBel, and her father, Lionel LeBel.
Honoring Lucie’s wishes, a private family farewell will take place on August 25, 2025 — a date that would have marked Lucie and Sam’s 25th wedding anniversary.
As her family reflects on her life, they will carry forward her legacy of love, generosity, and an indomitable spirit. Lucie will be dearly missed, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
Finally, a special thank you to her doctors and medical teams in Cranbrook and Kelowna. We met so many incredible people.
