Lou Helen Wanuk (Peterson)

March 3, 1930 - April 23, 2014

Tribute

At 3 am on the 3rd day of the 3rd month of 1930, Lou Helen was born to Signe and Edvin Peterson in Nelson, B.C.  This explains why she was such a night owl !

Today we take you down memory lane to the ” black and white ” days of Lou Wanuk.

Picture Lou's heels “clicking ” on her way to work to dress the lovely ladies of Kimberley at Marcella's.  Oh how she was a ” fashionista” !  She loved sharing her fashion sense with her two daughters and granddaughters.  Her happy place from her very early years was her sewing room, designing outfits for herself and her girls.  She costumed her and

George for many parades and occasions.  Lou always admired a  ” well-dressed man ” and she thought so of her son-in-law David.

Georgie was a fine dresser when they first fell in love and he tried his best ( for nearly 60 years of marriage ) to keep up with her fashion sense.  What colour she brought to our lives !

Lou was a ” Martha Stewart ” inspiration to Darcy, sharing her many gifts and talents.  Lisa inherited her Mom's 57 Ross Street green thumb and they both loved the colour lime green.  She proudly displayed her decorating skills in all her homes,  lately being Gardenview and The Pines.

Lou was ” Nanna ” to two beautiful and smart granddaughters,  Kyla and Jadel.  They enjoy playing with her, learning from her and laughing together.

On Wednesday April 23rd, 2014, Lou finally heard the singing voice of her George as he took her hand and they danced up to the Big Dancehall in the heavens.  She as now met up with family and friends that she socialized with for so many years.  She is ready to dress up, dance and party like no other.

A “Mom”orium will be held with family and close friends to celebrate all that she was to us.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.markmemorial.com

From: John & Eileen Wasilciw
Relation: Friend

John wishes to extend his condolences to you at this sad time. His memory is bad but he sat and told me stories about when Lou , George and John were young and the good times he shared with both. Two very enjoyable people to be out and about with. They made the “good times roll”!

From: Mary Ellen Bond
Relation: former neighbor

Lou and George were great neighbors. We were neighbors when our son, Lewis, and our daughter, Georgia, were born. Lew and George. We always laughed about that, especially given Lew was our boy and George, our girl. Lou was a friendly, spirited, and yes, stylish, neighbor, who I liked, admired and respected. Please accept our sincere condolences for your loss. Mary Ellen, Daryl, Lewis and Georgia.

Relation: Good Friend for many years

Dear Darcy, Lisa and family — I was so sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. She was such a wonderful lady, always so helpful and caring. To me, she was a very special friend even though we lost contact over the years. I still remember the great times that we had together, Lou, George, Ted and I. Lou is now with her George, and with Signe and Ed , and they will be happily dancing the hambo. She will never be forgotten.
Please accept my sincerest condolences.
Mary Ann Stewart.
