In loving memory
It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Lorne Clifford Grainger at the age of 77 years at home in Cranbrook, BC on August 29th, 2024. Lorne was born in Fort Steele, BC on January 15, 1947, the son of Clifford Carl & Leona Anne Margareta (Buckman) Grainger. He had two sisters Carol Ann Grainger & Katherine Jean Grainger, and the family enjoyed growing up in Fort Steele.
He was strong with a temper that could not be contained but he could also be the most kind, loving and giving man, who would give you the shirt off his back. He would fight for what was right. He stood for all that was good. He was a man of integrity and would always help others in need. He insisted on us being independent and he showed us what HARD work meant. He kept everyone accountable. Work hard then play hard! Do more and expect less!
He laughed lots but there was always a sadness that hid behind his laughter. He lost his beloved son Clifford Gordon Grainger in 1974, and it was almost too much to bear. Luckily, he still had his daughter Tammy to keep him grounded at that time to carry on. Cindy was born and a wonderful breath of new life brought hope. Then Brent shortly after which was the final missing piece to continue the legacy.
Our family has so many fond memories of highs and lows and working together.
Lorne was a proud and honorable man and will be missed by everyone. May he now rest in peace.
Lorne was predeceased by his partner, Marilyn Cook in 2023, by his beloved son Clifford in 1974, his father in 1974, his mother in 2008 and his sister Carol Ann in 1974.
Lorne leaves to mourn his passing his three children: Tammy Marlene Dick (Terry), Cindy Patricia Grainger (Matt Anderson) and Brent Lorne Grainger (Rajean). Lorne also leaves seven Grandchildren – Charissa Joy Kachur (Daniel), Wyatt Charles Matthews (Baylee), Jade Clifford Grainger (CJ Peters), Dylon Gordon Griffin, Tyler Ross Griffin, Kaitlin Rayne Grainger & Conner Lorne Grainger as well as five Great Grandchildren – Deegan Wyatt Kachur, Kian Patrick Kachur, Blake Harvey Matthews, Jagger Barrett Grainger & Jovi May Grainger. Lorne leaves his one sister, Katherine Jean Thom (Grainger) of Vernon, BC.
A Come & Go Celebration of Life will be held out at the property on Saturday , September 28th from 2pm – 4pm. Those who knew Lorne are welcome to come by during that time.
