Linda Lorraine Percival

October 13, 1951 - April 27, 2018

Tribute

It is with great sadness and deep sense of loss that we announce the passing of Linda Percival at the hospital in Invermere, BC. She battled her illness with remarkable dignity and courage.

Linda is survived by her husband of 43 years, Don, her mother, Marie, daughter, Natalie (Kyle), granddaughter, Ione and son, Ryland (Erin). Also grieving her loss will be the families of her step sisters Adrienne (Duane) Radford, Lucille(John) Humble and Selma(Rob)Nicol; her mother-in-law Sheila Percival; and Don’s siblings families including John, Frank, Patricia and Terry Percival .

She was predeceased by her stepfather Maurice Hitchen, step mother Pat Cushing, sister Donna Cushing and partner Mike Varty, and her father Don Cushing.

Linda was born and raised in Calgary. In 1975 she and Don married and moved to Red Deer, Alberta where they lived a full and dynamic life for 35 years pursuing their professional careers, raising the family and living life to the fullest with a strong circle of friends. In the early years in Red Deer Linda attended the Red Deer College and received her Fine Arts Diploma and Registered Nursing degree.

In 2007 they built their retirement cottage in Invermere BC and by 2010 were full-time residents. Linda embraced life in the valley. She passionately pursued her interest in Art and gained recognition for her considerable talents in painting and ceramics. She was very active hiking, kayaking, biking, golfing and skiing and her and Don enjoyed numerous travel adventures.

Linda was deeply loved and supported by family and friends. She was funny, kind, artistic, loving and stunningly beautiful in mind, body and soul. Her family and friends will miss her dearly but the world is a more colourful and loving place because of her.

The family would like to thank Dr. Chu and the nursing staff of Unit 42 Foothills Hospital and Dr. Mannheimer and the nursing staff of the Invermere Hospital for their excellent and compassionate care.

At Linda’s request there will be a private family service and a celebration of life ceremony for all who wish to attend (date to be announced).

Don, Ryland, Natalie and families. Please accept my deepest condolences for your loss of Linda. I have known Linda for many years through my lifelong friendship with her sister Donna. She was a compassionate, kind and thoughtful person, a trait that both Donna and she possessed. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you all at this very sad time.

Dear Don & Family,
I was stunned & very saddened to read of Linda’s passing.
The last time I saw her was at Rockyview Hospital. We were both visiting a parent and it was such a treat to catch up with her. We made some wonderful memories when we were younger and I always enjoyed anytime spent with her. We shared a birthday –
Lots of laughs and confidences – you’re in my thoughts & prayers.
I do get up there once in a while so will try and find you – Red Deer/Sylvan seem so long ago and far, far away…Chub, Lois, Donny Sinclair, Phil, Saundra, Mags ….. wow
Again – deepest condolences to you & yours – Affectionately, Patti (Fowler) O’Connor

I worked with Linda at RDRHC. The moment she came through the doors of the unit, she had a smile on her face and it stayed that way the whole shift. I have worked in many hospitals in Canada and Houston, Texas. I have worked with many nurses. She was one of the very best, a fabulous nurse and great to work with. I was so sad to read in our local Advocate that she had passed away. Our world will be smaller without her. Sincere Condolences to Don and family

Dear Don & family- we are so sorry to hear about Linda. We truly have lovely memories of Linda and all of you at Invermere for those many summers. Linda and I worked on many ‘craft’ projects during those times. We laughed and shared a lot of stories, usually while drinking a glass of wine. I feel fortunate to have shared those times with her.
With warm memories,
Lora & Terry Wyman

It is with an incredibly heavy heart that I send these condolences to you Percy and family. She and I grew up together, were roommates and great friends for a long time. I am having an awful time knowing she is no longer with us. When the two of you met, it was love at first sight for you both and you have been an everlasting love story since. Know that I will continue to think of both of you often. Debbie
