Leonard (Len) Edgar Little
December 21, 1925 - November 15, 2022
Tribute
It is with profound sadness that we announce that Len passed away peacefully at his home on November 15, 2022 at the age of 96.
Len was born on December 21,1925 in Stonewall, Manitoba and grew up in Red Lake, Ontario. At the age of 19, Len enlisted in the Canadian Navy and served on the HMCS Cornwallis during WWII.
Work brought Len to Vancouver, BC where he met and married his wife, Doreen, for 69 years. Len and Doreen moved to Kimberley in 1950, where they raised a family of four children. Len worked for Cominco for 34 years as an electrician and electrical boss. He enjoyed hunting with his family every September, and fishing at Whiteswan Lake especially during May and June. For many years, Len was involved with minor hockey, BC Amateur hockey, and the Kimberley Dynamiters. At the age of 40, Len learned to ski and the spent 35+ years skiing the Kimberley ski hill with family as well as a group of twelve or more locals, known as the “rat pack” to many. To them they called themselves the “snowbirds.” Len thoroughly enjoyed a mean game of crib and always had several sudoku books nearby in later years.
Len will be remembered by family and friends as a great father, grandfather, and a friend who was always there to give a lending hand, and who always had a witty sense of humor.
Len was predeceased by his parents Henry and Rose Little, brother George, son Rob, wife Doreen, and sister Doreen Pitura.
Len is survived by his son Craig (Katherine), daughters Heather and Linda, daughter-in-law Anne, five grand children and several great-grand children.
No service will be held at Len’s request. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Canadian Lung Association or the Canadian Cancer Society.
We would like to thank Dr. Brown, Dr. Lefebvre, and Dr. Blumenauer along with the Green Clinic Staff, and the EK Regional Hospital for the wonderful care of Len.
