Katharine (Kay) Josephine Sullivan

Tribute
Our much beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother Kay, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2012, almost 5 years to the day of her husband, Frank (Sully) Sullivan”s passing. Born and raised in Saskatchewan, she met and married Dad and they moved to Kimberley to raise their family.
Kay is lovingly remembered by her children Margie (Frank), Danny (Sandy) and Kathi (Maurice); grandchildren, Brent (Annette), Darren (Cathie), Tara (Darcy), Lisa (Lane), Krista (Mark), Steven (Lorelei), Sara (Cory), Alison (Leigh), Ryan (Courtney) and 17 great grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as “GG”. Kay was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Sully and daughter, Carol (2002) as well as 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
She will also be remembered by the Garden View “Parlor” friends and her “Wednesday Ladies” Lorna, Lillian, Ilsa, Josie, Sherry and surrogate daughter Joyce who have been a constant source of love and support over the years.
Although she lived most of her life in Kimberley, she retained a special affection for the prairies and always found pleasure in wheat fields, flocks of geese, as well as the array of hummingbirds, blue jays and deer that often visited her yard at Garden View. Mom was an avid New York Yankees fan, always enjoyed a competitive game of Scrabble, bocce, and card games with her family.
A celebration of life will be held at Centennial Hall in Kimberley on Saturday, January 21, 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. All those whose lives have been touched by Kay are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, please show an act of kindness or donate to the Oncology Department at the Cranbrook Regional Hospital or a charity of your choice.

Our mom, Kay Sullivan, asked that we extend, on her behalf, heartfelt thanks to the many dear friends, neighbours and caregivers for their support and encouragement over the past 5 years. A quote from Kay: “A special thanks to all the wonderful, wonderful staff at Garden View. I always enjoyed and looked forward to the care and companionship we shared. Thank you also to the East Kootenay Home Care team, Mary, Vera, Kathy and Andrea and to the Oncology Department at the Cranbrook Hospital, especially Val and Deb”.
Mom always looked for and found the best in people and all of you excelled in confirming her view of life.

There is now a big empty space in The View where Kay was so kind and just a ” bright light ” to visit. She is now back with her husband and strength to her family as you continue on and celebrate her life with your good memories. you are in my heart and the hearts of many others as you experience her upcoming memorial.
