John Robert Kendal

January 16, 1928 - March 14, 2012

Tribute

On the morning of Wednesday, March 14, 2012, JOHN ROBERT KENDAL passed away at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital at the age of 84 years. John was born on January 16, 1928 in Winnipeg, Manitoba to John and Winnifred Kendal.

John was an excellent mechanic and handyman. The work he did was second to none and he taught his sons this talent as well. His passion for cars led him to building hotrods and racing cars. Another hobby of John”s was building model airplanes.

His work life led him to many different places in the world from Africa to the North Pole and countless other places throughout Canada. His employment included work with TransCanada Airlines which eventually became Air Canada as well as working oil pipelines. John”s work life was very full and brought him much satisfaction.

John was on his way to an airline mechanic job in Sidney Australia when he stopped in Edmonton to help his Uncle Rudy build a house. There John met his wife, Marie in Edmonton, Alberta and they were married on December 26, 1952. This union was blessed with six children. John always loved babies and had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was always a big tease but he had an overflowing love for all of his family. He will be missed by all who knew him.

John leaves to mourn his passing his beloved wife of 59 years, Marie and his children; John (Jody), Darrel (Margo), Keith (Karen), Colleen (Kent), Scott (Joanne), Tim (Wendy), 20 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and two brothers. He was predeceased by his parents, two younger brothers, and his daughter Paula Jean Billedeau.

A gathering to celebrate John”s life will be held the May long weekend. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of BC & Yukon, Cranbrook Unit, #101, 105 – 9th Ave. S., Cranbrook, BC V1C 2M1. Condolences may be left for the family at www.markmemorial.com.
