John Norman Bromley

Date of Death: October 10, 2025

Tribute

John Norman Bromley passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, surrounded by love, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born on November 24, 1952, in Ontario, John was the oldest of four children of Donald Bromley and Helen (Livingstone).

John was a loving and proud father to Leigh (Ken), Taylor (Shannon), and Scott (Stephanie), and the proudest Papa and Granpa to Riley, Ezrie, Ainsley, Oakley, Ethan, Morgan, and Logan. His love for them made him smile right to the end.

He will be deeply missed by his brothers, Dave and Jim, his sister, Janine, and his partner, Tomoe. Together for 26 years, Tomoe and John built a beautiful life together. Through every step of his journey, she was by his side. Patient, caring, and steadfast in her love. John’s family will always be grateful for the devotion and compassion she gave him.

After arriving in Cranbrook in 1977, John quickly made it home. A true outdoorsman at heart, he found peace on the water and joy in the simplicity of nature. He loved capturing the beauty around him through his camera lens, especially the birds that fascinated him. Whether casting a line, paddling a canoe, or teaching his grandkids how to set a hook and cast a fly, he lived with patience, humor, and quiet strength.

Though his family’s hearts are heavy, they take comfort in knowing he has finally earned his rest.
He’s gone fishing now, where the waters are calm, the sun always shines, and every cast finds a bite.

His family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date.
