Joan Avril Schultze (Lloydena)

April 2, 1926 - March 21, 2023

Tribute

During the late evening hours of Tuesday, March 21, 2023 Joan Avril Lloydena Schultze passed away at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital at the age of 96 years.  Joan was born on April 2, 1926 to Lloyd and Gertrude Tegart in Windermere, BC.

Joan grew up in the Windermere area.  She took her schooling in Calgary and excelled in music.   She loved many sports including skiing, hiking, curling and bowling.  She especially loved baking and gardening.  Joan was always one for bringing a cake or cookies when she stopped in for a visit.

Joan married Sepp Wenger of Skookumchuck in 1950.  They were blessed with one son, Chris in 1952.  During these years, Sepp got his pilot’s license and he and Joan enjoyed flying the area.  Joan was part of the Eastern Star in years past as well as a Brownie leader.  She and her husband Sepp built and managed the Towne House Motel in Invermere, now known as the Canterbury Motel.   During her years,  Joan did a lot of volunteering and was very politically active.  Sepp passed away with cancer and a few years later, Joan married Karl Schultze of Ta Ta Creek, BC.  Joan was always on a quest for God and His teachings.  She attended the Cranbrook Fellowship Baptist Church and truly enjoyed the love of Christ within that group.

Left to mourn her passing is her beloved son, Chris of Pigeon Lake, Alberta and her two grandchildren; Lance Wenger and Reyna Tiebs of Cranbrook.  She also leaves behind one great grandson, Wyatt.  At Joan’s request, there will be no funeral service.

I wish to extend my sincere condolences to Joan’s family and friends. I met Joan several years ago in Cranbrook and spent many wonderful hours with her and Karl. Joan joined the Cranbrook Seventh-Day Adventist church and we quickly became good friends. I visited Joan at Joseph Creek a few years ago and kept her in my prayers night and day. I pray we meet again Joan.
