Harold Reynolds
1958 – 2025
It is with great sorrow that the family of Harold Reynolds announce his sudden passing at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital on December 20th, 2025 at the age of 67.
Harold was born in Harbour Grace, Newfoundland in 1958 and although he left “the Rock” at the ripe old age of 17 to join the Canadian Armed Forces, he returned many times throughout his life to share stories with his family, rekindle his love of this majestic Atlantic province, and jump-start his Newfie accent.
While stationed in Chilliwack BC, Harold met and married his wife Sharon and later they moved their young family of four to the beautiful East Kootenays, where he spent his happiest working years at Fort Steele Heritage Park.
Harold made simple pleasures special: from coffee breaks to camping, fishing to Lego, or preparing the “Lucky Duck’s” favorite meal, every extra effort helped Harold fulfil his greatest life motto, “to create treasured memories” for his beloved family and close friends. Although some learned that it wasn’t wise to poke the “HareBear”, Harold’s nature was to offer up his carpentry skills, full taxi service, a friendly ear and much more to those in need.
Harold is survived by his wife of 46 years … Sharon, daughter Kristi (grandchildren Renee and Maysen), son Luke & Heather (grandchildren Henry, Connor and Chloe), brother(Buddy) Terry & Diane, sisters Dorothy and Christine & Jack, mother-in-law Chris, and many cherished extended family members.
Harold was predeceased by his father Richard, mother Grace, Nanny Christine, uncle Willie, sister Thedie & Jim and daughter Jasmine, brother-in-law Bill, father-in-law Chuck and sister-in-law Sandy … Harold’s dear friend and creator of his nickname.
A private and heartfelt celebration of life will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers Harold’s family would appreciate if you could share a happy memory of Harold on the condolence page to help us through our grief and then create an ‘extra’ treasured memory with your own loved ones to help expand Harold’s motto in the best way possible.
Our family would also like to thank the valiant and compassionate efforts of the many first responders and EKRH staff who attended Harold in his final hours, as well as the Mark Memorial team for their kindnesses and extra efforts provided to Harold and our family throughout this difficult process.

I first met Harold years ago when he was doing Remediation work in our basement. He was such a kind and generous person, and my youngest called him “Buff Col. Sanders,” which Harold took with laughter and grace. He and Sharon brought their grandchild to the Library all the time, and Harold was such a great presence here. And I was just talking to him before Christmas. Everyone will miss this incredible–and buff–human being.

My dear father‑in‑law… I’m going to miss you so much. It hurts to think about all the moments the kids will have that you won’t be here to see. I keep thinking about the time we shared—how you were there at our wedding, how you welcomed each of our babies with such pride, how you always jumped right into the noise and chaos with a smile, ready to help in any way you could. You were such a steady, loving presence in our lives. We will feel your absence every day.
