In Loving Memory of Faye Angela Villafane Lang (nee Potekal)
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Faye Angela Villafane Lang, who left us far too soon on September 13, 2025, at the age of 27, following a courageous battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully at East Kootenay Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Cranbrook on May 28, 1998, Faye was known for her quick wit, sly remarks, and strong personality. She had a deep love for art and was always proud to share the beauty she created—especially her colorful artwork. A passionate music lover, she had the joy of seeing some of her favorite bands in concert.
Faye adored pandas and had built a delightful collection of obscure panda items over the years. She treasured adventures and cozy movie nights with her sisters, and above all, cherished time spent with family and friends, creating lasting memories along the way.
Her greatest joys in life were her beloved partner Arya and their precious daughter Luna, whom she loved more than words could express. Faye was a shining light to everyone who knew her—organized, talented, and fiercely devoted. She was truly an exceptional young woman who left an indelible mark on the hearts of many.
Faye is survived by her loving husband Arya, and their daughter Luna; her sisters Sarah (Justin) Grandberg and their children, Malanie (Alexander) Pompu and their daughter’s, and Faith Hernandez; her father Ed Potekal; Arya’s family; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was predeceased by her mother, FeCarmen Potekal, in November 2022.
As per Faye’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service.
