Fay Doreen Hartwell (Eamon)
July 10, 1924 - October 22, 2025
Tribute
I was born July 10, 1924 in Calgary and named “Fay Doreen Eamon” by my parents Marriet and Roy Eamon.
Growing up in Calgary at that time was tough. I was lucky to have good friends to hang with. We were known as the “5th Avenue Gang”. We had fun without causing trouble.
I met my first husband Ted Welsh in Calgary. Like many young men at the time, Ted joined the armed services, and his choice was the airforce. We married at the end of the war.
We had five children but were divorced with all five children still at home. To support my family, I took a secretarial course completing it in record time. This allowed me to work as a legal secretary. I was lucky to find the perfect boss in Hector Craig. While in his office I met my future husband “Rad” Hartwell.
Rad had a beautiful property near Premier Lake in B.C. We built a house on the river in 1971 and with difficulty left Calgary. We cleared 130 acres of potential farmland. Through the years we tried many ventures including growing hay, raising cattle, growing plants, dairy farming and developing a tree nursery. Some of these ventures I enjoyed more than others.
I worked hard to develop and maintain an attractive yard. My favorite activity was using the ride-on-mower to cut the expansive lawn area. I managed this activity into my 101st year. I loved watching the creek from my kitchen window and the wildlife playing on my lawn. I have had a good and satisfying life with ups and downs.
My children seemed to come and go but many gravitated to this area. I loved having them around and watching my grandchildren and great grandchildren grow.
I leave this big, blue, beautiful planet believing with all my heart that I have left Something Good.
There will be no service at my request.
