Tribute
Eunice Evelyn Roberts {nee La Fave} 1931-2026
Eunice passed away in the Cranbrook Regional Hospital on July 1st after a long illness.
Born in Kamloops BC Eunice grew up on a farm and fishing resort on Agate Bay on Adams Lake.
The youngest of six children she was affectionately known as Punky by her brothers and sister.
Her childhood was spent riding horses, messing around in boats and swimming in the waters of Adams Lake always with her dog Rover by her side.
Upon graduation from highschool Eunice attended secretarial school and moved to Vancouver where she met and married Harry A Roberts. Four children were born in quick succession. In 1962 they moved to Cranbrook and bought an old house on 13th Avenue.
A lover of animals she encouraged the same in her children and at one time the menagerie included dogs, rabbits, a cat, a hamster, several horses, a deer-mouse and a pet magpie that talked.
Her children remember coming home from school to the smell of fresh baked bread, pies and cinnamon buns. Summers were spent camping at the local lakes where rafts were built to dive off and many, many meals were cooked on the old, green Coleman camp stove.
In the mid seventies Eunice and Harry moved to their farm near Bull River. Eunice grew a large vegetable garden and planted flowers, trees and shrubs. She had the proverbial “green thumb.”
A jack of all trades she could build a chicken-coop and wire a hay-baler back together in the same afternoon.
Eunice spent her last years back in Cranbrook in a smaller house on 13th Avenue.
She spent her time gardening, relaxing in the sun and helping others. Fond of singing and playing the piano her weekly choir meetings with her friends were not to be missed.
Hers was a life of service and generosity to all.
She is survived by her four children, twelve grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

Relation: She was my neighbour and dear friend.
I have lived next to Eunice as a neighbour and friend for the past 20 years. I will always miss her and remember her kindness and personality. I live alone with my dogs and Eunice often invited me to spend Easter and Christmas with her and her family. What a beautiful and wonderful person who was loved by so many.
