Emil Thomas Kopchiak
February 25, 1929 - November 18, 2011
Tribute
Emil Kopchiak passed away peacefully on Friday, November 18, 2011 at Joseph Creek Care Village at the age of 82 years.
Born in Fernie, BC Emil moved his family to Cranbrook in 1972 where he worked for BC Hydro until he retired in 1988.
Emil enjoyed the outdoors hunting and fishing. He enjoyed hockey, especially the Kootenay Ice, curling and bowling. His pride and joy was his family and the “apple of his eye” were his granddaughters. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the family cabin at Rosen Lake. Emil was a kind and very caring family man, eager to help anyone that needed it and always with a warm smile on his face. He never asked for anything in return. He will be sadly missed by all that knew him.
Emil will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife of 56 years, Marjorie; daughters, Donna Penner, Laurie (Dave) Schmideder and granddaughters, Jenna and Jodi Schmideder. He also leaves his sisters, Louise Tanner and Doreen Kopchiak and brothers, Henry and Frank. Emil is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Emil was predeceased by his parents, Carl and Francis; sisters Adele, Lillian, Joan and Helen and his brothers Steve, Joe, Lenard and recently his son-in-law Ken (Sonny) Penner.
At Emil”s request there will be no funeral service. Condolences may be left for the family at www.markmemorial.com
