October 30, 1926 - June 20, 2023
Tribute
On Thursday, June 20, 2023, Eileen Mary Blanchard passed away in Cranbrook at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital at the age of 96 years. Eileen was born in Creston on October 30, 1926. Eileen married Earl Blanchard and they were blessed with five children.
Eileen was a loving mother, grandmother, and great gram (GG). She was a hard worker all her life. She spent many years at the Marysville Hotel as their baker/cook and she became known as “The Pie Lady”. Her pies were delicious and second to none!!! Eileen enjoyed her flower gardens and especially her Rose gardens. She also loved watching the hummingbirds feeding out her front window. She enjoyed all the birds that happened upon her yard. Eileen also enjoyed cooking family dinners, knitting, and sewing over the years. Camping with her kids and grandkids was another highlight for her. She always enjoyed her morning walks and time spent with her family.
Left behind to miss her are her children: Bryne (Louise), Doug, Brenda (Rob), Christine and Steven (Ainsley) as well as her grandchildren: Jamie, Michelle, David, Christie, Angela, Kelly, Carmin, and Sarah. Her great grandchildren are Liam, Bella, Jordyen, Colton, Danica, Drayden, Rylan, Reese, Alexander, Westley, Connor, Chloe, Kaden and Addison. Her brothers Dale (Shirley) and Sven (Sharon) also survive her. Eileen was predeceased by her husband Earl, her brothers Bob, Norman, Chuck, and Connie and one grandson Joey.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Brenda and Rob’s home on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at 3040 Black Angus Road, Cranbrook starting at 4:00 pm.

Awesome mother in law. She was non-judgmental l felt, a rare and honorable trait. Many happy memories camping up St. Mary’s with her, Earl, Christine, Brenda, Joe, and David. Happy journey, Mom.

Many fond memories of Eileen she was good to me as a child, Sometimes we would chat in the garden, as she picked veggies or, I would pick wildflowers from the field past the school to share with her, and she would slip me a dime, to get ice cream from the ice cream truck(don’t tell Earl lol). Later in the years, I worked with her at the Marysville Cafe, Eileen was the cook I was the server, and she always cooked lovely meals and delicious pies, I enjoyable my shifts with Eileen . Later in life, I dropped in on my longtime neighbor for a hug and to bring her a bouquet of flowers, we had a few good laughs and a lovely walk down memory lane. My sincere condolences, to the Blanchard Family. from Brenda Morris. (Gallinger)
