EDWARD Earl IVERS

March 13, 1933 - September 28, 2023

Tribute

Edward (Ed) Ivers passed away peacefully in Invermere on September 28, 2023 with family members by his side.  Ed was born in rural Saskatchewan near Moose Jaw to William and Elizabeth Ivers on  March 13, 1933.  He was predeceased by Grace, his wife of 63 years and will be dearly remembered by his sons Jordan, Darrell and Scott and his grandchildren Dana, Jacqueline, Daniel and Nicole.

Ed took pride in whatever he did, eager to do it well and do it right.  He was a mechanic first, working heavy machinery, while building and racing stock cars before marrying Grace in Moose Jaw in 1956.  Soon after, he became one of the top hands in the Saskatchewan oil patch.  Ed moved to Calgary in 1969 where he later became an instructor at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT).

Ed left SAIT in 1979 to start a construction company in the Fairmont Hot Springs area building custom houses.  He had a strong entrepreneurial spirit, later starting and running gift shops and ice cream stands with Grace in both Radium Hot Springs and Fairmont Hot Springs.  Being seasonal. the shops allowed Ed to start ‘retirement’, so he and Grace began spending winters in Arizona.  Here, he got his real estate license so he could help friends find the perfect winter home and come to visit.  Whatever Ed decided to take on, he did well, enjoying the challenges while building relationships.  Many of his friends were customers and many other customers became close friends.

Ed always enjoyed being on the water and has had a boat most of his life.  He loved to water ski with friends and family, to fish back country waterways; and to just explore and enjoy the lakes of western Canada.

Ed was liked and admired by all, always making time for others.  He never hesitated to lend a hand when  needed / requested.  He had an infectious smile and loved to laugh, always looking for the humor in the events of the day.

At Ed’s request there will be no public service.  The family asks those that knew Ed to honour his memory in your own way.
