Edna Patricia Stephens (Campbell)
October 12, 1930 - November 18, 2020
Tribute
On Wednesday, November 18, 2020 we said goodbye to our wonderful and spirited Mother. You have touched many in your 90 years Mom, so know that you were loved and will be missed. Our Mother had a strength that didn’t always shine through but she was authentic to the end. Her feisty spirit has been passed on to her three daughters and four grandchildren. We will always cherish the memories of who she was.
Mom often reflected on her life as the simple country girl who went on to live a somewhat fantasy life – following her husband through his navel career took her to many locations across Canada and Europe for a time. Being able to step foot on her ancestral home of Scotland was a highlight for her. The importance of family was with her always.
She is now dancing once again with her Father, Ernest Dewar Campbell, her Mother, Letitia Maud Foster and her eldest sister Letty. She leaves behind her youngest sister Joan Bartels (Campbell), as well as her three daughters; Terry (Brian), Debbie (Clem) and Leslie (Stacey). Her grandchildren; Sarah, Matthew, Katie and Shannon will remember her fondly. Although separated by distance Mom continued to stay connected with her sister, daughters, grandchildren and her nieces and nephews. Rest now Mom.
From one of her favourite songs . . .
. . . the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side
The summer’s gone, and all the roses falling
It’s you, it’s you must go and I must bide.

Family of Pat.
I’m sure your hearts are breaking & there never be a replacement until you are called to be with her. I’m very happy to have met & spent our supper times together & meet some of you. She talked lots about you while I lived in Joseph Creek. Sorry I didn’t get to phone her more times in the year & a half since I left. Thought of her, but wasn’t the right time to call. May your happy times soon take over this rough time of realizing you can’t drop in or give her a call.

My Dear Sister Pat:
As children growing up, we shared many things. Even though never in the same town, as we got older always stayed close managing to see and do things together. From Peggy’s cove to Harrison Hot Springs, Niagara Falls to Expo 86. Our last years on the phone 3 times a week. We had much fun and many laughs. Admired your courage and know you are now at peace. Will love and miss you always, your sister Joan.

My condolences to the family. I know it is difficult but it was time for her to go. They say you don’t know what you have until it is gone. Well, I miss you already Aunty Pat. I have always enjoyed our visits over the years and our telephone conversations. The last call was on your birthday in 2020. Always kind and gracious, you invited me to stay with you when I travelled to Ottawa in 2006 to visit you all. When you moved to Cranbrook, BC we went to visit you there in 2019 and you came to Chilliwack, BC in 2010 and 2016. You have had many travels in the roller coast of life. Now you can rest and be free of the shackles of a physical body and can soar to the ones that have gone before you. Until we meet again (save us some chairs, it is going to be one heck of reunion) – love from Randy.

Relation: Through her daughter, Terry.
I was fortunate to meet Pat later in her life when she lived in Ottawa, through her daughter, Terry, I always admired her quiet demeanor although underneath I felt she had strong backbone. I know she loved hummingbirds and the daughters she raised are a marvelous statement of who she was. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to her family.

I am so sorry to hear of your mother’s passing. Your words about your mom really touched my heart. I remember her well especially at Mathew’s wedding and her dance with him. You could feel her happiness as she looked up at him. A gracious and beautiful lady….she will be missed.
