Edna Elizabeth Ballard (Johansen)
September 8, 1921 - April 20, 2015
Tribute
In the early morning hours of Monday, April 20, 2015, Edna Elizabeth Ballard passed away at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital at the age of 93 years. Edna was born on September 8, 1921 in Wardner, BC, the youngest of four children born to Gustav and Elfrida Johansen. Edna was the last surviving child of her family.
Edna was our loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. In her life she had a great love for the outdoors and spent many trips camping, fishing and just relaxing in the outdoors. She was also a knitter and crocheter. She had a pattern in her mind for a very unique hat. Mom did the craft until her hands would not allow her to anymore.
Edna leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Joanne (Lou) Marchi and son Robin (Lynn) Ballard. Also left are her grandchildren; Laurel (Bruce) Marchi-Cole, Colin Marchi, Florence Ballard, Janna (Eddie) DeWitte, and Keith (Ivy) Ballard, Christine (Jason) Fischer and her great grandchildren; Cassidy Marchi, Elena Marchi-Cole, Nole Dewitte, Owen DeWitte, Merek Dewitte, Farrah Fischer and Paige Fischer. Edna was predeceased by the love of her life, Lawrence; two sons Randy and Murray, her granddaughter, Cherie Ballard, her daughter-in-law Donna and her husband Leo Bozzer.
There will be no service at mother’s request. At a later date, we will have a family graveside memorial in Kimberley.
Memorial donations in memory of Edna will be gratefully accepted to a charity of your choice. Condolences may be left for the family at www.markmemorial.com.

My sincere sympathy in the passing of your dear mother, grandmother and great-grandma. She loved you all so much and I know you will have many fond memories to cherish.
She always enjoyed an afternoon out at the casino with her friends. She would always stop and have a chat with me in her warm, quiet way. God Bless.
Sincerely,
Norma Buttignol

Dear Robin, Lynn and family,
Read of your loss in tonight’s Daily Bulletin. Sincerest condolences. Stopped to let Lynn cross on the crosswalk by KSCU this afternoon. Noticed she was not her bubbly self. Now know why. Our thoughts are with you.
