Dorothy Anne (Pepper) Griffioen passed away in the early morning hours of Friday, January 20, 2012 at the age of 72 years. Left to mourn her passing are her beloved husband of 47 years, Bill and her son John ((Joanne) Griffioen.
Dorothy was born on March 5, 1939 in Frenchmans Butte, SK, the third child born to Charles and Beulah Pepper. Many years ago, she and Bill became pen pals through an advertisement in the Winnipeg Free Press. They corresponded for about a year before they finally met. Dorothy and Bill married on August 1, 1964 in Alert Bay, BC. Dorothy loved to volunteer and spent many hours helping out the Special Olympics and the Kimberley Hospital Auxiliary. She truly enjoyed her crib nights at the Seniors Centre in Cranbrook and Kimberley where she and Bill took great pleasure in the many good times shared with friends.
Besides her husband Bill and her son John, Dorothy leaves three sisters; Betty, Joyce and Deannie, one brother; Don and many nieces and nephews to mourn her passing. She was predeceased by her beloved daughter Annette in 1977; her parents; Charles and Beulah; one brother, Ronnie and two sisters; Joanna and Juney.
A Celebration of Dorothy”s Life will be held at a later date. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Kimberley Health Care Auxiliary, 140 Howard St., Kimberley, BC V1A 2R6 or to the Special Olympics, 1040 – 19th Ave S., Cranbrook, BC V1C 3E8.Condolences may be left for the family at www.markmemorial.com.

My deepest condolences to Dorothy’s family. I worked at Juniper Lanes for years and was very fond of Dorothy. I admired her dedication to the Special Olympics Bowling Program.
She was a very special lady!
