Remembering Dale Marie Ann Mather

May 23, 1954 – June 17, 2026

On the morning of Wednesday, June 17, 2026, Dale Marie Ann Mather passed away peacefully under palliative care at the Kimberley Special Care Home. Although she was diagnosed with cancer in February, she was able to visit with many of her close friends and relatives and celebrated her 72nd birthday in May.

Born in Marysville, BC, in 1954, she was the daughter of Carl and Clemence Adams and the younger sister of Edward Adams. On Valentine’s Day in 1971, she went on a date with Ivan Mather, soon got married, and they enjoyed 55 adventurous years together.

Everyone who knew Dale was uplifted by her passion to make her community a better place. Whether it was her tireless fundraising efforts for the Heart & Stroke Foundation, the local Girl Guides, the Trefoil Guild, Kimberley Summer Theatre, and countless other charities, or her volunteering with local gardening groups and social clubs, Dale was a firecracker of joy and positivity.

She will also be remembered for her work at the local ski hill and for helping kids find their footing as a local noon-hour supervisor.  Many kids (now adults) still remember her as the “Candy Lady” and learned great things from her generosity.

She is survived by her husband, Ivan, her two children, Katrina (Aaron) and Nicholas (Jenna), her three grandchildren, Xavier, Inara and Anya, her nieces and nephews, John, Vanessa, Joanne, and Janeen, as well as everyone in the Kimberley community who was touched by her joyful spirit.

A memorial service will be held on August 29, 2026, at 11:00 am at the Marysville Community Church (730 302 Street) with Pastor Joe Letourneau officiating. A link to stream the service will also be provided.  Dale’s immediate family will be spreading her ashes near her favourite camping spot, where happy memories will continue to thrive.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the BCSPCA, Heart and Stroke Foundation, or a charity of their choice.  The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Kimberley Special Care Home for their compassionate care in Dale’s final days.
