Tribute
Harlen Clifford Gjertsen passed away peacefully with family by his side on Monday, August 1, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 85 years.
Cliff was born in Orkney, Saskatchewan on October 17, 1925. He joined the Navy as a young man and was a gunner during World War II. Harlen met his wife Joyce in Vancouver and they married in 1945. He was a member of the Vancouver City Police Force for many years. Cliff enjoyed hunting, fishing and doing anything outdoors – especially with his son Ken. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a Shriner for over 25 years.
Cliff will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 66 years, Joyce; two daughters, Darlene (Martin) Thiessen , Barb (Dave) Lougheed and one son; Ken (Kari) Gjertsen as well as seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren whom he loved very much. He also leaves to remember him his one brother Harold (Dagney) Gjertsen and two sisters; Nona Kirby and Irene (Jim) Foster.
An intimate family celebration will be held at a later date. Condolences may be left for the family at www.markmemorial.com.

Barb and family, we are really sorry about the passing of your loved one. It was a blessing for you to be able to say a personal “good-bye” to him. We hope it comforts you to remember him in photos and memories and know that he will not be forgotten.
From: Val Wriht
Relation: uncle "in law"
Joyce is the sister of my departed father John E Wright, died in 1984 age 62. I am sad to have not known the extended family from dads side, but remember Joyce and Doris. I often visit the grave of Lucy Florence Wright, dad’s mother, when passing through Creston. Condolences to all remaining family. V. Wright, Vancouver BC
