On the afternoon of Friday, April 18, 2025, Bessie Emerald Tegart passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook.
Bessie was born on September 27, 1932, in Meskanaw, Saskatchewan, to W.E. Stonehouse and Mary E.C. (Laroque) Stonehouse. She was the last surviving member of her family. Bessie met the love of her life, Raymond Tegart, and they were married on January 20, 1951.
Bessie lived a rich and fulfilling life. She devoted much of her time to volunteering with organizations such as the Kinettes, the Food Bank, and the Thrift Store. Her work as a hairdresser brought her great satisfaction and led to many lasting friendships over the years.
Bessie leaves to mourn her passing her beloved daughters: Bonnie Tegart (Phil Hardy), Fonda Tegart (Gerry McQuitty), and Holly Odlund (Gary), as well as her son-in-law David Cochrane. She is also lovingly remembered by her nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her cherished husband, Raymond; her daughter, Cindy Cochrane; and her siblings: Chester, Archie, and Bill Stonehouse, as well as her sisters: Ruth DuBois, Muriel O’Dwyer, Iva Dunlop, and Dot Detaselle.
