WELK, Agnes Marie Louisa
1926 – 2011
Agnes Welk passed away at her home in Cranbrook on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at the age of 84 years. She was born in Findlay, Manitoba on October 14, 1926 to Rene and Marie Bauche.
Agnes moved to Kimberley in 1959 and on to Cranbrook in 1989. Mom was enormously independent. She could change the oil in her car and then come in and bake the best pumpkin pies. She loved cake decorating and putting up her theme Christmas trees each year. Mom had a wonderful sense of humour and a quick smile. She gave us sound, objective and impartial advice. The legacy she left for us is the high value she placed in fairness and honesty.
Agnes leaves behind one son; Matt and three daughters; Audrey (Garry), Virginia (Dave), and Charlotte (Tom) as well as her two grandchildren; Parker and Olivia. She also leaves her brother Gilles and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Rene and Marie; her sister, Therese and brother Eloi.
The family would like to thank the very caring and compassionate doctors, nurses and caregivers in our health care system and particularly Dr. Solcova, Val, Sue and Juli from Home Care Nursing and all the ladies at the hospital lab. Mom appreciated all of your kindnesses.
A private family interment will be held at a later date. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, British Columbia Branch Office, #200 – 4940 Canada Way, Burnaby, BC V5G 4K6

I was saddened to hear of Agnes’ passing, a big loss to those who knew her. She always had a smile, twinkle in her eye and asked how ‘others” we’re. A wonderful woman of faith and an example of genuine care and kindness. My thoughts and prayers go out to you her family. Cathy Pretty, a friend.

Agnes Welk – what a beautiful lady. I loved her sense of humor and am so grateful she was a part of my life growing up. Your mom was an amazing lady with lots of spunk. My last memory was a great one when she came out to Koocanusa with us and we took her to the big beach. She was full of fun, and seemed to really enjoy herself. My thought and prayers are with all of her children. I am so glad she met my family and we are blessed that she was with us all. She will be missed!
