William ("Bill") Martin Bale

May 31, 1945 - May 25, 2022

Tribute

Bill Bale, 76, died suddenly in his home on May 25, 2022.  He was born May 31/1945.

He was the first son of Fern and Martin Bale.  Bill attended UBC, before he started his apprenticeship in assaying for Cominco in Trail.  He eventually transferred to Kimberley working in the assay office for 29 years.

Together with his wife, Laura, of 44 years, they raised two daughters,  Jenny (Amanda) and Joanna (Adam).   Bill embraced his greatest role as Papa to his grandkids,  Graham, Corbin, Scarlett and Kade.

Bill is survived by siblings Sharlene (James),  John (Charlene) and Patti (Cynthia).  He was “Fun Uncle Bill”  to many nieces, nephews and friends.

After Retirement, Bill and Laura loved to travel.  They volunteered together for many years at the Food Bank and Seniors Helping Seniors.  Bill had a love for singing and music, belonging to the community and church choirs, as well as many  smaller singing groups that entertained at senior homes.

Bill will be greatly missed by so many.

A service of remembrance will be held on Saturday, June 25/2022 at1:00 pm at the United Church in Kimberley.

If you wish to make a donation in remembrance of Bill,  it can be made to the Kimberley Helping Hands Food Bank.

I am so sorry to hear of Bill’s passing. What a fun loving man. I sang with him in the Kootenay Harmony Chorus for many years . Barb and I golfed with Bill and Laura, one time in PEI, went mountain biking in Idaho. He was a great community minded person, always lending a helping hand to whomever needed it. I’m at a loss for words at this very sad time. My condolences to Laura and her family, and Bills’ siblings. This man will be missed.

My condolences Laura and family. I grew up with “Billy” in Castlegar. I enjoyed running in to him in Superstore a couple of times a year where we would catch up on the latest Castlegar news. He was a great guy with the greatest smile.

So sorry to hear about the loss of Bill. I loved bumping into you guys and having a few laughs together. Such a funny guy. Take care Laura and family. I will miss seeing him and chatting.

Laura I just wanted to say how shocking it was to hear of Bill’s passing. I’m 2 years older than him and we had many fun cousins times together growing up. His parents were my favourite aunt and uncle. My last memory of Bill was at the family reunion in Kelowna about 10 years ago and I remember thinking “what a nice man, what a sense of humor, how funny.” He will be sadly missed by you and your girls but I’m sure you have many fond memories to ease the pain. I wish you well as you start a new chapter in your life.

Bill and I went through grade school and high school together and spent a year together at UBC–sharing an apartment for that year. We had a lot of fun together and I spent a lot of time with his family in Kinnaird. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. It is like a chapter from my past has closed. My condolences to his family.
